Teddy Bear Toss Dec. 5

The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club are proud to announce that the Canadian Tire Teddy and Toque Toss will take place Saturday, December 5th, 2015 when the Hurricanes host the Red Deer Rebels at the ENMAX Centre at 7:00pm.

This year will be the 20th anniversary of the Teddy and Toque Toss in Lethbridge after starting back in 1995. Last year the Hurricanes incorporated a new element to the night including toques as well. A total of 2,477 stuffed animals and 461 toques were collected at last years Teddy and Toque Toss when former Hurricane Taylor Cooper scored to send the bears and toques flying at the 12:04 mark of the third period. The Hurricanes record for bears collected came in 2007 when 5,202 fans threw 21,905 bears on the ENMAX Centre ice.

The Teddy Bear Toss is a popular tradition near the Christmas season celebrated by many hockey teams throughout North America that originated in 1993 at a Kamloops Blazers game. Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal, and in Lethbridges case also a toque, to the game and throw them on the ice when the home team scores their first goal.

Once again this year, the Hurricanes will deliver all bears and toques collected to local organizations, including: Chinook Regional Hospital Pediatrics Ward, the Interfaith Food Bank, Piikani Youth Centre, the RCMP Victim Services Unit, Blood Tribe Police, Head Dress Society, Salvation Army, Streets Alive and 1st Choice Savings and Credit Union on behalf of Lethbridge Family Services Angel Tree for Kids. Following the Teddy Bear and Toque Toss night, Hurricane players will make a special visit to children at the Chinook Regional Hospital and deliver stuffed animals.

Tickets for the Teddy and Toque Toss go on sale Friday, November 20th, at both Canadian Tire locations. Tickets are available for $9.99 and with the purchase of a ticket, fans will also receive a teddy bear or toque for the evening.
