The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club is proud to announce that first year
import forward Egor Babenko has been listed as a ‘C’ skater in the latest NHL
Central Scouting Players to Watch for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
A ‘C’ rating
indicates that Babenko could potentially be taken in the NHL Draft from rounds
four to six.
In his first year with the Hurricanes, Babenko has collected 22
points (12g-10a) in 23 games so far this season. The 18-year-old from Tyumen,
Russia was selected fifth overall in the CHL Import Draft in June. In 53 games
in the Russian junior league last year, Babenko tallied 50 points (27g-23a) in
53 games with Ladia Togliatti.
Babenko is the only Hurricanes listed and is
one of 51 WHL skaters to make the list.
The 2016 NHL Entry Draft will take
place from June 24-25 at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo.

Egor is a pleasure to watch! He has great hands and a nose for the net and sees the ice very well. Egor is off to an excellent start and should only get better as the season progresses. Nice that we finally have a Euro who can put up numbers. Tomas Kopecky was the last Euro that stood out for the Canes. Speaking of Euros, the big lanky defenseman Igor Mereshko is showing improvement each and every game. At 6.4 and 220 he is using his size to his advantage and has a toughness as well. (still has to learn how to defend himself in a fight).
ReplyDeleteNice to see both Euro picks that produce for the Canes.

Babenko is awesome!! Now, you say Kopecky was the last Euro to stand out... Where were you in 2008? Sbisa and Metsola were amazing!!
ReplyDeleteOk....Anon.....I meant as a forward. Yes Luca and Juha were great. My error of omission.
